Project:
Car Park F, Birmingham Hospital Client: Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Trust and University Hospital Birmingham NHS Trust Value: £8.5m Contract: D&B Duration: 52 weeks
This is a 1200 space, seven-storey high, steel framed car park built as an advanced work package for the Birmingham New Hospital project in Selly Oak, Birmingham.
The car park had to be completed in advance of the main works in order to release the area allocated for the new acute hospital, as it was being used as surface level car parking. A key feature of the car park design is the striking external envelope treatment. The cedar cladding, curtain walling, gabion stone cages and mesh panels break up the mass of the building and to provide an attractive and enjoyable view for both the nurses and residents in the neighbouring accommodation. |
